Overview of L-Methylfolate + Methylcobalamin + Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate Tablets:

FOLIFEM Tablet contains L-Methylfolate 3mg + Methylcobalamin 2mg + Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate.

Vitamin B Complex is water-soluble vitamins. Methylcobalamin (Vitamin B12) is a more bioavailable form and a crucial nutrient for foetal development. It is essential for its role in DNA and methionine synthesis which is an essential amino acid and has been shown to reduce the risk of neural tube defects (NTDs). L-Methylfolate (LMF) is primary active form of folic acid and with high bioavailability. LMF in prenatal supplement had significantly higher hemoglobin level at the end of the second trimester and at delivery and have a benefit of lower incidences of anemia. Pyridoxal Phosphate is the active form of vitamin B6

Methylcobalamin belong to the class of cobalamin derivatives. Pyridoxine is the 4-methanol form of vitamin B6 and is converted to pyridoxal 5 phosphate (coenzyme) in the body. L-Methylfolate belong to the class of organis compound known as folic acids.
FOLIFEM-D can be used in the treatment of the following conditions:

  • Prenatal Supplement.
  • Post-pregnancy anemia
  • Prevention of NTD (Neural Tube Defects) or preterm births.
  • Promote restoration of lost cutaneous sensation in DPN (Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy).
  • Manage hyperhomocysteinemia
  • Reduce oxidative stress & promote nerve health
One FOLIFEM Tablet twice daily or as directed by Physician.
L-Methylfolate is the primary biologically active isomer of folic acid and the primary form of folate in circulation. L-methylfolate crosses the blood-brain barrier for use in the CNS. L-methylfolate exert its action by enhancing synthesis of monoamine neurotransmitters, and has been categorized as a “trimonoamine modulator” because it is necessary for serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine synthesis. Pyridoxine Phosphate (PLP) Convert levodopa into dopamine. PLP then facilitates the conversion of the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate to the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA, and allows SAM to be decarboxylated to form propylamine, which is a precursor to polyamines.
