Overview
DIMS-GM Tablets contains Diacerein and Glucosamine. Diacerein is a slow acting symptomatic treatment of osteoarthritis. Diacerein also has the activity of the synthesis of proteoglycans, and hyaluronic acid, the principal components of cartilage. Glucosamine sulfate is capable of stimulating proteoglycan synthesis, inhibiting the degradation of proteoglycans, and stimulating the regeneration of experimentally induced cartilage damage. Glucosamine is a major component of joint cartilage. Diacerein is a slow-acting drug that may slow the breakdown of cartilage and relieve pain and swelling.
Diacerein is an anthraquinone derivative. Glucosamine is an amino sugar and a prominent precursor in the biochemical synthesis of glycosylated proteins and lipids.
DIMS-GM Tablets can be used in the treatment of following conditions:
- Pain and inflammation in joints
- Osteoarthritis
One DIMS-GM Tablet twice a day preferably with meals for minimum period of 6-8 weeks or as directed by Physician.
Glucosamine provides natural building blocks for growth, repair and maintenance of cartilage. Glucosamine may lubricate joints, help cartilage retain water and prevent its breakdown. Two mechanisms of action of Diacerein have been validated: in vitro inhibition of interleukin-1 (IL-1) synthesis, the main cytokine involved in cartilage destruction, and activity on the synthesis of proteoglycans, and hyaluronic acid, the principal component of cartilage.
